Port Royal, in Kingston, is a pirate haven, which was once known as the "richest and wickedest city in the world". Montego Bay is a must-visit city thanks to the bustling and authentic downtown area. Here you can experience Jamaican culture and lifestyle at its very best. There are plenty of stunning beaches in Jamaica, with white sands and clear, blue waters. Seven Mile (Negril Beach) in Western Jamaica is perfect for partying, whereas Long Bay Beach in Portland is spot-on for those who want some seclusion.
Driving Through Jamaica
If you're planning on renting a car and driving through Jamaica then you'll be pleased to know that this small island doesn't take a lot of time to cross. Many people who rent a car pick several places to stop off at, for a week or two week long journey; soaking in the sights. Start off in Kingston and enjoy the various museums, before making your way, along the coast, through smaller towns such as Portmore, Mary Pen and Alligator Pond (a beautiful fishing village). Next you'll get to the Black River which needs at least a day or two to explore. Finish your trip in Negril for some stunning beaches, and watch the sunset on your final day in Jamaica.
