Linz is perhaps one of the least known large cities in Austria. It is
the third largest city in the country and is not as mainstream and
popular as many other cties for people to go on breaks there, but it is
fast becoming more and more well-known because of the simply magnificent
attractions and the things that there are to do in the city.
A rather humble and unforgettable experience is taking a trip to the
Mauthausen Memorial in Linz. The memorial is in honour of all the people
that were murdered in the concentration camp in Mauthausen. You will
simply never forget a visit to a place like this, although you may think
it is somber and depressing to go visit and hear about the atrocities
committed by the Nazis, it really does make you think how lucky you are
to have not of been in a camp like this and how far the human race have
come from not so long ago when the whole of Europe was being torn apart
by the holocaust.
Another highlight of the city of Linz is the Hauptplatz, this beautiful
square in the city, who's tranquill surroundings and picturesque
architechture, make it wonderful to visit, is full of wonderful, cute
and quaint cafes and restaurants in which you can grab a bite to eat.
This is a great place to go to really soak up the historical culture of
the city.
The city of Linz is very spread out. There are lots of things to do
there but many of the attractions are far part, making getting a hire
car an essential part of your trip there. A company to help you do this
is Rent.it, this takes all the hassle off you, if you book before you
get out there, they will book your car for you, so you are ready to
explore the wonders of the city.
