Venezia Santa Lucia is in the lagoon’s historic centre and is a different station. Do not treat a Santa Lucia listing as a collection point you can drive to beside the platforms; check the branch’s actual address carefully.

In Mestre, pay attention to restricted traffic zones and lanes reserved for public transport.
Places to drive to from Venice
A hire car works well for trips to Padua, Treviso or the Brenta Riviera. Collecting it after your stay in historic Venice can avoid paying for days when it would remain parked. For a longer Veneto itinerary, choose the return location around your final overnight stop and onward journey.

Follow the supplier’s return address, which may differ from the collection office. Allow time for refuelling or charging, the vehicle inspection and your onward journey.
